We are pleased to announce the commencement of sign-ups for the Arriba Mammoth Bus Trip during [Elevation: Mammoth] Gay Ski Week. This year’s bus trip occurs from Thursday, March 14 to Sunday, March 17, 2019. Based on your feedback, there will be only one lodging option this year. We will all be staying at the Village Lodge in the heart of the Village at Mammoth. This not only provides convenient access to the Ski Lifts, but also to the shops, market, and food and beverage establishments in the village. The bus will have the usual three pick up locations – Long Beach, West LA, and Santa Clarita – and will drop off participants at the Village Lodge.
In our opinion, the Bus Trip is the funnest and best way to travel to Mammoth. With dinner and drinks served on the bus (both ways), you can relax, socialize and watch a movie.
Here are the pricing details and deadlines:
Village Lodge at Mammoth Bus Package
$665 per person, double occupancy (Early Bird) if sign up by January 15
$725 per person, double occupancy if sign up after January 15
Single supplement (for private room) add $345 to price
Bus Only Package
$250 per person (Early Bird) if sign up by January 15
$275 per person if sign up after January 15
Transportation from one of the three pickup spots to Village and return.
You must arrange your own transportation beyond the Village to your accommodations. Membership required.
The Village Lodge at Mammoth Bus Package includes lodging for three nights and bus transportation. Snacks, dinner and drinks will be served on the bus on the way up and back. Included meals while at Mammoth will be daily continental breakfasts in the condos and one group dinner. We will be renting two bedroom condos again at the Village Lodge and will try to pair a couple with two singles to have the most flexible sleeping arrangements. The Village Lodge has hot tub facilities available so don’t forget your swimsuit.
The packages do not include Lift tickets or tickets for any Elevation events.
Please note that space is not confirmed until payment is received and all standard cancellation policies apply.

Join Arriba for Happy Hour to celebrate Gay Pride in the desert, Saturday, November 3 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Location is at Myra and Barb’s place. Just bring yourself and Arriba will provide the rest. Check your inbox for your Evite. If you are a member, you should have already received it. Otherwise contact our Social Chair, Rhonda.
Get in shape for the ski season! Join your fellow Arribans on a hike to the Hollywood Sign. Starts at 7:00 am on Sunday October 28. We will meet at Fern Dell Drive (off of Los Feliz). Parking lot is 3/4 mile up on Left. The hike will be about 8 miles roundtrip. We should be back before 11:00 am. Be sure to wear tennis or hiking shoes, a hat and/or sunglasses, and water. It may be cool starting out, but you will quickly warm up on the trail. After the hike we will meet for brunch at Messhall Kitchen, 4500 Los Feliz Blvd, about five minutes. You can meet for brunch even if you can’t make the hike, but let us know in your RSVP. Reply to the Evite which has already been sent out. Or contact our Social Chair, Rhonda.
We are pleased to announce the final schedule for the 2019 season. Sign ups for all trips begin now except for the Mammoth Elevation Bus Trip in March and our Yosemite Summer Trip in June. Sign ups for these two trips will both begin in a month or two. Here is the schedule:
Aspen Gay Ski Week – January 16-21 (5 nights)
Mammoth Drive Up – January 24-27 (3 nights)
Taos Ski Better Week – February 2-9 (one week)
Mammoth Drive Up – February 21-23 (3 nights)
Big Sky, Montana – February 27-March 3 (4 nights)
Mammoth Elevation Bus Trip – March 14-17 (3 nights)
Yosemite Summer Trip – June 8-12 (1 night at Tenaya Lodge, 3 nights at Yosemite Lodge)
The only change to the preliminary schedule we sent out last month is that we extended the Aspen Gay Ski Week trip by one day to take advantage of the Martin Luther King holiday. More details on the trips can be found on the Trips and Events page.
If you are interested in either the Aspen Gay Ski Week trip or the January Mammoth Drive Up trip at the Ski-in Ski-out house please sign up immediately. There is limited amount of airline seats available at the price shown so we must book the air immediately and for the Mammoth house we will only book the house if we get enough sign ups to fill it. Also for the other trips, please note that pricing and availability is only guaranteed until October 15.
It’s summer and time to head for the Beach. Join us for our annual beach outing at Will Rogers State Beach, which if you don’t know is just south of where Entrada ends at Pacific Coast Highway. Look for the Arriba banner on the sand near the volleyball courts, just north of the beach club. Paul will be leading a bike ride starting in the parking lot at 10 am. The club will provide KFC and drinks. Please bring a side, snack or dessert to share. RSVP by June 23 to Rhonda at Social@arribaski.org
The Chile/ Colombia trip is quickly filling up and we have just a few spots left.
As we need to do final confirmation on 5/30 with the travel agency and hotels, please email our Out of State Trip Chair, Moises as soon as possible if you intend to go. Also please email him if you have sent in your sign up form AND have NOT received confirmation from him that you are signed up.
Due to pressure from angry pitchfork mobs otherwise know as MVP/Cali4nia Pass members and Mammoth locals, the Ikon Base Pass announced on March 1 has been changed. The price is still $599 but instead of offering just five days of skiing at Mammoth, it will now offer unlimited skiing at Mammoth. Blackout days still apply for the dates of December 26-31, 2018; January 19-20, 2019; and February 16-17, 2019. It also offers limited skiing at other resorts as well.
For and additional $300, at $899 the Ikon Pass has no blackout days and unlimited skiing at Mammoth and 11 other resorts. It also includes seven days at Aspen/Snowmass among other resorts in the United States and Canada.
Not that this pertains to our youthful club, they also originally announced that skiers 80 years of age and older will no longer ski for free. This was probably the only benefit to turning 80. However Mammoth’s Public Relations Manager, Lauren Burke said that they are rethinking that brilliant idea too.
The limitations vary by the pass and resorts. For all the details go to the FAQs page on the Ikon Pass website. It shows all the resorts included and the limitations for each.
We are pleased to announce our first summer social activity. We will be going to the Hollywood Bowl on Monday, July 2 to see the Go-Go’s and the fireworks. The show starts at 7:30 PM but we will gather before hand for a picnic. The tickets cost $70 and food will be provided by the club. Due to ticket availability we were unable to secure decent seats for July 3rd or the 4th. If you are interested, please e-mail your Social Chair, Rhonda to book your spot. She will follow up with space availability and how you are to make your payment.
